The Blowing Stone Launches!

We are delighted to announce the launch of our first series of Hawkridge’s own gins, “The Blowing Stone.” In January 871, the king to be, Alfred (the Great) led his Saxon army to his first victory against the vikings in the battle of Ashdown which ended in the valley where our distillery is situated. To summon his troops into battle, Alfred blew into a perforated sarsen stone which emitted a loud booming sound across the Wessex downs. From this stone (which still exists!) our new gin range takes its name. We have carefully selected botanicals which were available during the early medieval period and created three delicious flavours – A sophisticated London Dry, Wild Strawberry and Crabapple and Royal Ginger.
